The whole school gathered on the field recently to see our five Jubilee alder trees planted. The trees will be a long lasting reminder of the school’s Golden Jubilee, providing pupils with shade and a place to read and relax as well as a habitat for wildlife. The planting ceremony was scheduled for this week as it is National Tree Week. Each of the trees was planted by a special guest, including the Rotary Club of Earley who put money towards the cost of the trees; Mrs Hanson who represented Heartwood Tree company who provided the trees at cost price and delivered them for free; Mr Feist represented the school’s ground development committee and Mr Head the chair of the governing body planted tree number four. Councillor Chambers, Earley’s mayor kindly joined us to plant the fifth and final tree. We hope all the trees adjust to their new surroundings during the winter and spring so that in the summer term we are able to erect seating around them.
